Stewart Stanley . . . The Adventures of a Tiny German Dog is an amusing look at the daily struggle of Stewart Douglas Stanley, wirehaired dachshund extraordinaire. His nemesis is Father (the one that refuses to share his chicken with this tiny wiry German). Mother is the mediator in this struggle between dachshund and man. She documents Stewart's life as he navigates his way through the Stanley household which includes his four very large brothers Jack and Charlie (black Labrador mixes), Patch (an Australian Blue Heeler with three legs) and Dega (a black German Shepherd also known as Big Ears). While Stewart is prone to mischief he will win your heart with his never ending narration of his eternal search for chicken. Stewart is more than just a dog. I have followed Stewart on Facebook for a couple of years already, so I THOUGHT that I knew him pretty well. Reading this, peeling back the layers of his journey HOME to Mother, Father (Chicken Hoarder!) and the rest of the family; I really discovered an entirely new appreciation for this heartwarming family and their bottomless well of love.This is a very well written "first person perspective" narrative given by Stewart himself. He ends all of his posts and entries with "Sincerely, Stewart" and I have to tell you I just fell head-over-heels in love with this little guy and his witty repartee. I do not know which dog school this young fella attended, but they paid particularly detailed attention to literature and creative writing. The writing is insightful and thought provoking, it was not merely a pleasure to read it was an addictive and introspective glimpse into the hearts and minds of those meandering through the world of animal rescue. As Stewart tours us through his world he offers a view of the very souls of his humans and in doing so, sheds light on the quality and type of people that dedicate their lives to the rehabilitation and rescue of animals in need, although I doubt there are many out there to equal Stewart's "Mother and Father."
If ever was a MUST read for animals lovers, this would be it.

He is so cute and sooooo funny! Just like that bit of Doxie Moxie in him.....he is full of himself! I am owned by 3 Doxies myself (2 of which are rescued) so I am familiar with all the antics.
Nicely done. Fun to read. Very lite hearted. Love the way it was presented. Being a dog lover I really enjoyed it.
I smiled and laughed at the antics of Stewart Stanley, the wirey German! A fun book with get tongue in cheek humor. I'm hoping for a 2nd book, but his Facebook page has to suffice in the meantime.

A wonderful story about a delightful doxie who finally found his forever home. Anyone who has ever owned a doxie knows they spend the majority of their day thinking about and plotting how to obtain food, and Stewart is no exception. The lengths he goes to to try and obtain chicken will make you laugh out loud. This little book is worth reading.
Stewart Stanley is a saucy, adorable, slightly naughty wire-haired dachshund who has enlisted thousands of fans to support him in his never-ending quest to engage in "tippage" and acquire the ever elusive chicken. Father (if that is his real name), aka "chicken-hording chicken-horder" is Stewart's nemesis, and then there is the beautiful Mother who always has hugs and kisses to comfort Stewart when he grows weak from lack of proper chicken in his diet - of course Stewart thinks chicken should be the only thing is his diet. This little book is filled with sweet stories, funny pictures accompanied with witty input from our hero, Stewart. Melanie Stanley is truly a lovely, loving, generous lady who donates proceeds from the sale of this book to a sanctuary for special needs dogs. Look for Stewart one Facebook, also. He starts my day with a chuckle.
We are completely head over heels for this littlest German! Dachshunds are our heart and Stewart Stanley is a brilliant ambassador of doxie personality with his story & antics.
The book is full of fun for big & little kids of every age! Adorable photos that will make you laugh and want to cuddle his little face right on the page.
This is a must have for any family with a furry kid especially those who have their own little German (dachshund) of coarse as there's only one Stewart!
